Imperial
Valley...
Imperial Valley is a desert region approximately
100 miles east of San Diego where yearly rainfall averages under 3 inches a year. Crops are irrigated with water
from the Colorado River through an extensive irrigation canal system. This irrigation system facilitates precise
control of the amount of water used on crops. Temperatures range from the low 30's to the 120's. Alfalfa, in particular,
flourishes under these hot, dry conditions.
